POWERBALL is the newest regeneration of team handball. The game was first played on a grass field at the 1936 summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 2016, the United Powerball League is the only international league dedicated to the sport of Powerball, and the advancement of modern field handball.

Powerball is another fast paced, semi- contact, team sport, that demonstrates pure athleticism. The objective is to score points by throwing the ball into the opponent’s goal. The game requires 1 ball, 2 goals, and 12 players. Powerball includes elements and skills associated with sports like Team Handball, Soccer, Football, and Basketball.

The UPL was created to formalize the regulations of field handball, and organize Powerball tournaments on professional and amateur levels. We are based in Morristown, New Jersey, (USA) where Powerball was originated. Part of our mission is to promote the fundamentals of the sport educationally in schools, and local sports clubs. UPL has published an official Powerball rulebook with amendments to the traditional field handball regulations.

The United Powerball League is the official governing body for the sport of Powerball, and the 9 Powerball clubs in development. UPL teams are in the following US states: Virginia, Georgia, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Illinois, North Carolina, and Washington D.C. We welcome handball players, coaches, and referees of all experience levels to register by signing up in the "Play Powerball" section of the website. Notifications will be sent to registered UPL members for league news, team tryouts, and open tournaments.

Our goal is to provide a new source of entertainment to the major-league sports world. The Introduction to Powerball is a fundamental guide to the rules and regulations of the sport. We encourage adults and youth to play in groups on a grassroots level under these disciplines.
